Philisiwe Twijnstra is an international award winning South African playwright, Theatre director, actor and Durban University of Technology scriptwriting lecturer, AWPN steering committee and Co-Founder of Sorana Pictures. She resides in Durban working as a scriptwriting lecturer at Durban University of technology. She has obtained her MA degree in Creative Writing from Rhodes University. Her play ‘The Blue Blue’ currently in production in Sweden by Darling Desperados (2022)
Ms Twijnstra is also a top 10 selected playwrights to showcase their newest plays in Ghana ‘Horny &’ and one of the 21 African shortlisted writers selected by Short Story Day Africa (2021) for her short story ‘The girl named Uku/pha/za/mi/se/ka’ published by Catalyst Press 2021. Her award-winning play ‘The Road is on tour’ produced by Swedish company Darling Desperados. She was granted a CASA award residency (2018) to write a play ‘Not Enough Buses in Spring’. Currently she is writing her Novel. ‘Sleeping Gods.’
